Enclosed mobility scooters and cabin models
A closed cabin with a windscreen wiper, heating and doors, so the weather stops deciding your day. Be clear about one thing before you fall for them: at 1.10 m wide, with three or four seats and well over 150 kg, these models sit outside every UK mobility-scooter class. In Britain we supply them for private land — a golf course, a park, a private estate — and not for the public road or the pavement.

Enclosed mobility scooters: the guide
An enclosed mobility scooter has a cabin with a roof, doors and windows, so you ride dry and warm in rain, wind and cold. For Motion makes 3 cabin models, the Brik, the Dike and the NIEVE Q-EN, with a range of up to 87 miles on one charge. Before anything else, the UK rule that decides where you may ride one: a class 3 mobility scooter may be no wider than 0.85 m and seat one person. Our cabin models are 1.10 m wide and seat more than one, so in Britain they are private-land machines. If you need an enclosed scooter for the road and the pavement, this guide also tells you what to check.
Are enclosed mobility scooters road legal in the UK?
Some are. UK law does not care whether a scooter has a cabin; it cares about the class. A class 3 mobility scooter is incapable of exceeding 8 mph, seats one person, is no wider than 0.85 m and no heavier than 150 kg unladen, and is registered with the DVLA. An enclosed scooter that meets all four may use the road, and the pavement at 4 mph.
A cabin that is wider, heavier or seats two is not a mobility scooter in UK law at all but a motor vehicle, with registration, a driving licence and, in most cases, compulsory insurance. That is where the Brik, the Dike and the NIEVE Q-EN sit: at 1.10 m wide they are outside every UK class, so we sell them for private land, such as an estate, a golf course or a park you own. If you are shopping for road use, measure the width of any enclosed scooter you consider against the 0.85 m limit and ask the seller for the class in writing. The full rules with sources are on the rules page.
Brik, Dike and NIEVE Q-EN compared
Size and parking. The Brik measures 235 × 110 × 153 cm, the Dike 235 × 110 × 148 cm and the NIEVE Q-EN 243.5 × 110 × 158 cm (length × width × height). Measure your garage or drive and leave room to open the door, get in and charge.
Seats. The Brik and the Dike have three built-in seats, the NIEVE Q-EN four.
Heating and air conditioning. Equipment differs per model. According to the product data the Dike has heating and air conditioning, the NIEVE Q-EN PTC heating, and seat heating is described as an option on the Brik. Your quote states the equipment of the version you order.
Range. Depending on the battery pack, up to about 80 miles (Brik and Dike) or 87 miles (NIEVE Q-EN). Cold, hills and load cost range, and heating draws on the battery too; count on a third less in winter.
Enclosed mobility scooter prices
We sell from a euro-priced channel and UK law wants a selling price in pounds including VAT, so this page prints no figure. Your written quote states the full price of the cabin model and version you choose, what it includes, the VAT treatment and the delivery terms to your postcode.
| Model | Wheels | Design speed | Range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brik (cabin) | 4 | 28 mph | up to 81 miles |
| Dike (cabin) | 4 | 28 mph | up to 81 miles |
| NIEVE Q-EN (cabin) | 4 | 28 mph | up to 87 miles |
A written quote, then your decision
We have no dealers in the United Kingdom yet, so there is no test drive here. You get a written quote, a callback from someone who rides these machines and honest answers, including whether a cabin model suits the place you want to ride it. Servicing and repairs happen in our own workshop in Heerde, the Netherlands, or as agreed in your quote.
Frequently asked questions about enclosed mobility scooters
Are enclosed mobility scooters road legal in the UK?
Only if they meet class 3: incapable of exceeding 8 mph, one seat, no wider than 0.85 m, no heavier than 150 kg unladen, and registered with the DVLA. Our cabin models are 1.10 m wide, so in the UK they are for private land only.
Do I need a licence for an enclosed mobility scooter?
Not for a class 3 enclosed scooter. A cabin outside class 3, like ours, is a motor vehicle in UK law and may not be ridden on public roads as a mobility scooter; on private land the landowner’s rules apply.
How much does an enclosed mobility scooter cost?
This page prints no price, because our channel prices in euro and UK law wants a pound price including VAT. Ask for a written quote: it states the full price, what is included and the VAT treatment.
Are there two-seater enclosed mobility scooters?
Our cabin models have three (Brik, Dike) or four (NIEVE Q-EN) built-in seats. Any scooter that seats more than one person is outside class 3 in the UK, so it is a private-land machine.
Do enclosed mobility scooters have heating?
It depends on the model. According to the product data the Dike has heating and air conditioning, the NIEVE Q-EN PTC heating, and seat heating is an option on the Brik.
How wide is an enclosed mobility scooter?
Ours are 1.10 m wide and 235 to 243.5 cm long. A class 3 machine may be no wider than 0.85 m, so check the width of any enclosed scooter you want to use on the road.
Can I try an enclosed mobility scooter before buying?
Not in the United Kingdom: we have no dealers there yet. You get a written quote, a callback and 14 days to cancel after delivery under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
