Storing a mobility scooter at home

Choose a storage place before selecting the scooter. It should have enough room to park, reach the controls and get off safely. Think through the route in poor weather as well as on a dry day, including gates, tight turns and the final approach to the socket.

Check access and charging together

A suitable parking space is less useful if the charger cannot reach it safely. Measure the available space and discuss the charging requirements for the exact battery. If charging indoors is necessary, confirm whether the battery is removable and whether its weight is manageable.

Weather protection is model-specific

A cabin protects the rider differently from a storage cover and does not establish that every electrical component is suitable for prolonged outdoor exposure. Follow the manufacturer's storage instructions and ask about ventilation and condensation if a cover or enclosure is used. Avoid assuming that a covered scooter can be stored in any weather.

Security and shared spaces

Check how the scooter can be locked and what your insurer requires. In shared accommodation, discuss the proposed location and charging arrangement with the building manager before ordering. Keep access routes clear and make sure other residents can use the entrance without moving your scooter.
