Enclosed mobility scooters: choosing a cabin

An enclosed mobility scooter or cabin scooter can appeal when you want more shelter on everyday journeys. The cabin also changes access, visibility, dimensions and weight. Start by checking the exact UK classification and intended use of the model, then compare comfort and equipment.

Look beyond the roof

Check how the doors open beside a wall or parked vehicle, whether the entrance is easy to use and how much space remains once seated. Ask about mirrors, wipers, ventilation and demisting on the quoted version. Air conditioning, heating and other equipment should be confirmed individually, rather than inferred from photographs.

Measure your parking space

Allow room for the open door and for you to stand beside it. Include the full width of mirrors and accessories where relevant. A cabin that fits through a gate may still be awkward to enter once parked in a narrow passage.

A cabin does not determine road legality

A roof does not make a vehicle a car or automatically establish class 3 status. Check seats, maximum speed, dimensions, weight and approval for the supplied version. Some models in the wider For Motion range are offered for UK private-land use only. See the enclosed model range and UK rules before requesting a quote.
