Figures as For Motion states them; range depends on the battery pack, the weight carried and how you ride. UK road eligibility depends on the model and its approved configuration. A speed limit of 8 mph alone does not make a vehicle eligible. Confirm the intended use in your quote and see the rules page.
Compare the Forty-5 with the two closest models
From each model's own specifications and configurator: colours, battery choices, dimensions, equipment and which options cost extra. Prices are stated in your written quote. Only what differs is in the table; what is the same on every model sits underneath. Where another model wins a row, that is shown too.

Forty-5
Forty-5 Bordeaux RedSpecifications
Product description
The Forty-5 is the long-distance model: two hub motors, independent suspension all round, up to 186 miles (300 km) on the largest battery option, measured at 25 km/h, and a second seat that folds out for a short stretch. In Britain it is a private-land machine — the section below explains why.

Range on one charge
The range depends on the battery pack you choose. These are For Motion's own figures in normal use; rider weight, wind and hills all count.
| Battery pack | Range |
|---|---|
| Standard, lead-gel | about 25 miles (40 km) |
| Lithium, option 1 | about 37 miles (60 km) |
| Lithium, option 2 | about 62 miles (100 km) |
| Lithium, option 3 | about 93 miles (150 km) |
| Lithium, option 4 | up to 186 miles (300 km), measured at 25 km/h |
Who it suits (and who it doesn't)
A good fit if you have somewhere private to ride it: a golf course, a caravan park, a large estate, a farm. The speed, the suspension and the range earn their keep over distance, and the fold-out seat takes someone with you.
Look at another model if you need a machine for the public road and the pavement. Then choose one of our single-seat models supplied at 8 mph — the On Four, the City Cruiser or the Forto — or work through the whole range in our buying guide.
Riding this in the UK
UK law defines a mobility scooter — an invalid carriage — as a vehicle constructed or adapted to carry one person. The Forty-5 has a fold-out second seat, so however slowly it is set it cannot be a Class 2 or Class 3 machine here. That leaves private land only: a golf course, a park, a farm, a private estate, with the owner's permission, and never the public highway or the footway. Anything ridden on a road or in a car park counts as public, needs DVLA registration, a driving licence and insurance, and there is no approval route we can promise you today. Our rules page sets out the classes.
Options and accessories
You put the Forty-5 together in the configurator above, which lists every option and what each one adds. Speed: the group runs from a 5 mph limitation up to 28 mph, but because the Forty-5 carries a fold-out second seat no setting makes it a UK mobility scooter — every build is for private land only here, as explained above. Battery and charging: the gel pack as standard, lithium packs of 40, 60, 80 or 160 Ah (more capacity on request), a removable battery, and an 8–10 A, 12 A adjustable or 20 A charger in place of the standard 4 A unit. For a disability: a thumb throttle left, right or both, the throttle moved to the left, all handlebar switches on one side, swapped brake levers or a foot brake right or left, and a comfort seat, plain, swivelling for sideways entry, heated, or both. Practical: a canopy, a tall clear windscreen, a top box (standard, or the XL trunk), a front basket, a rollator carrier at the back, a wheelchair carrier at the back on request, a cane holder, a phone holder with or without a 12 V USB socket, a 12 V connection, a 230 V socket, heated grips, a hand muff set or heated gloves, a leg cover, covers for the scooter and the windscreen, a bicycle-trailer hitch and a tow bar with or without trailer lighting. Security: an ART 3 or ART 4 chain lock, an ART4 wall anchor, a GPS tracker or a beacon. A foot throttle, highway pegs, infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, built-in speakers and hill assist are named in For Motion's Dutch specification; ask us whether they are available for your build. Maintenance packages and multi-year service contracts are listed too; for a United Kingdom address, ask us in the quote what servicing we can offer before you choose one.
