Figures as For Motion states them; range depends on the battery pack, the weight carried and how you ride. UK road eligibility depends on the model and its approved configuration. A speed limit of 8 mph alone does not make a vehicle eligible. Confirm the intended use in your quote and see the rules page.

Product description

The On Four is the four-wheeler that turns like a three-wheeler: steady on four wheels, tight in a shop aisle, and at 68 cm narrow enough for an ordinary doorway or a lift. For Britain we supply it limited to 8 mph.

Range on one charge

For Motion's own figures in normal use. The gel battery suits the occasional ride; if you go out every day choose lithium, which is lighter, charges faster and lasts longer. Removable packs charge indoors, and with the 8–10 A fast charger a 62-mile pack is full in about 4 hours.

Battery packRange
Gel 20 Ah (standard)about 25 miles (40 km)
Lithium, smallabout 31 miles (50 km)
Lithium, 2 removable batteriesabout 62 miles (100 km)
Lithium, larger93, 124 or up to 186 miles (150, 200 or up to 300 km, measured at 25 km/h)

Who it suits (and who it doesn't)

A good fit if your journeys are mostly around town, you need to get through narrow gaps and tight corners, and you want a low step-over with a proper seat and armrests. At 68 cm this is the most door-friendly four-wheeler we make.

Look at another model if you want to carry a passenger — the On Four is built for one, and a second seat would put it outside the UK classes. If you go out most days, skip the gel battery and take lithium. To lift a machine into a car boot, see the Foldy; to compare the range, use the comparison tool.

Riding this in the UK

We supply the On Four here limited to 8 mph, which makes it a Class 3 invalid carriage — the road-going class of mobility scooter. You register it with DVLA (there is no vehicle tax to pay), the rider must be 14 or over, and on a footway you drop to 4 mph with the limiter and the speed indicator working. Motorways are never allowed. It sits inside the Class 3 build limits: one seat, 88 kg against a 150 kg ceiling, 68 cm against 0.85 m. A faster build exists, but in Britain that version is for private land only, never the public highway. See our rules page.

Options

The configurator above lists every option for the On Four and what each one adds. Speed: choose the build limited to 8 mph (or 5 mph) for road use as a class 3 machine, subject to the class stated in your quote; the 9.5, 11, 15.5 and 20 mph builds are for private land only in Britain. Battery and charging: the standard gel pack or one of five lithium packs, up to 186 miles; a removable battery, one or more; and an 8–10 A, 12 A adjustable or 20 A charger in place of the standard 4 A unit. Seating and controls for a disability: a comfort seat, plain, swivelling, heated or both; a foot-pedal throttle; a thumb throttle left, right or both; the throttle moved to the left; all handlebar switches on one side; reversed brake levers or a foot brake right or left. Practical: a canopy, a tall clear windscreen, the XL case in place of the standard top box, a front basket, a walker holder at the rear, a cane holder, heated grips, a handlebar muff set or heated gloves, a leg cover, covers for the scooter and the windscreen, a 12 V connection, a phone holder with or without 12 V USB, a 230 V socket, winter tyres on their own rims, a bicycle-trailer coupling and a tow bar with or without trailer lighting. Security: an ART 3 or ART 4 chain lock, an ART4 wall anchor, a GPS tracker or a tracking beacon. Colours other than those listed are available on request at an extra charge. Maintenance packages and multi-year service contracts are listed too; for a United Kingdom address, ask us in the quote what servicing we can offer before you choose one.

Price, delivery and your rights

Your written quote states the full price delivered to your address, with the battery and options you chose. VAT relief needs a chronically sick or disabled customer, a qualifying product and a signed eligibility declaration — a Class 3 machine does not qualify automatically, so the quote says which rate applies to you. You have 14 days to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, plus your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Request a quote or ask customer service.
